News:

(9/27/07)

I’ve finally had both the time and inclination to mess around with phpbb mods to my satisfaction, so the forum has been restored.

(4/30/07)

I’ve temporarily taken the forum down until I have time to install modules which will address bot registration issues.

(8/21/06)

The installer for Ridiculous Timing 3.9 (Beta02) is finished and will posted sometime tomorrow.
We apologize for the long wait, but in response to the common compliant of many people not having the .NET framework, we wrote a Win32 installation application from scratch.  Given our schedules, this proved to be more time consuming than either of us had hoped.

(3/28/06)

The code for Ridiculous Timing for Stepmania 3.9 (Beta02) is finished.
The release will also include updated metrics files which give Ridiculouses a distinct color scheme from Marvelouses
We are currently in the process of writing an installer which will not require the .NET framework.

The Ridiculous FAQ:

What is Ridiculous Timing?
Ridiculous Timing takes precision to the ultimate extreme. It is a new Stepmania project conceived to push the elites of the Stepmania community who are unchallenged by the yawning void of the Marvelous timing window.

Why Ridiculous Timing?
This project was inspired by those in the Stepmania community who insist that Marvelous Timing is a requirement to enjoy Stepmania and share your scores with others. This community is so competitive that a AAA without Marvelouses is worthless to them. Now I fear that some in the community are getting so good that those who can AAAA songs will have no way to distinguish amongst each others' skills. A new benchmark must be set to separate the best of the best of the best from the mere best of the best.

How does this affect scoring and grades?
For now, Ridiculous and Marvelous carry the same point value in both regular score and dance points.  A Quad A is still achievable with all Ridiculouses and Marvelouses, and a Quint A is now possible with all Ridiculouses.  There is a Quint A graphic, but anybody who knows how hard a Quad A is to achieve will appreciate the rarity and difficulty of attaining the Quint A.

Is this a joke?

Who are you people?
Elipsis and Halcyon are both Stepmania and DDR players, as well as computer programmers, who enjoy working on independent programming projects and stepping on arrows.

What do I do if I’m having an issue with the software?
Right now Stepmania Ridiculous is STILL IN BETA.  Everyone is welcome to share their questions, comments and concerns with us in our forum.
